I've been forging my own path for as long as I can remember.
In my 20s, I apprenticed with national thought leaders in higher education leadership, absorbing every “rule” and “best practice” I could find. Then I expanded beyond them, writing new ones at every turn. At the ripe old age of 30, I did what everyone said I shouldn’t—I left my stable career to start my own leadership consulting practice.
They said it wouldn't work.
They said I was too young.
They said I needed more credentials.
They said I should stick to the traditional path.
Ooooohhh really? Well, I'm still standing!
That practice has GROWN entirely through referrals for over 33 years…
Supporting me for many of them as a single mom while getting three kids through college debt-free. Along the way, I co-authored I'm Not Crazy, I'm Just Not You!—now in its third edition, in three languages, and still a top seller after 28 years!
Oh, and I sang in bands—through college and again in my 40s. (Sometimes I even sing to my clients now. They may or may not be as thrilled about this as I am!)
